Little Women by Kate Hamill (adapted from the novel by Louisa May Alcott)
THE STORY
Set during the Civil War, Little Women is the story of the day to day struggles of the March family, a mother and her 4 daughters, while Mr. March is off fighting for the Union. Even though it is a tight-knit family, the girls are uniquely different from each other, which leads to disagreements and even a touch of revenge. Friendship and love interest evolve along with much self-identity and expression. All of the characters are "human" - not always liked, loved, or hated. They are all "imperfect people, and it's not a perfect family”. Rated AGP-PG
This retelling of Little Women is a more modern version of the beloved classic novel. It was given a PG rating due to sensitive gender questioning by a few of the characters. It certainly is appropriate for our modern-day families.
