Monday, January 24th, 2022 at 7:00pm - Open Auditions
As all of you are aware, THE PRODUCERS was supposed to perform at the Actors Guild in April 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent shutdown, we were forced to postpone the production. We were 6 weeks from opening when this occurred. However, our dedicated cast and staff of volunteers have been patiently awaiting to bring this hilarious musical farce to the community. Many of those who were originally cast will be returning to their roles. It is only fair that they be given the opportunity to perform those roles. Sadly, there are some who have moved on or are unavailable due to scheduling conflicts. We are therefore opening up auditions to everyone in order to fill those open spots. Listed below are the roles that are OPEN.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. There will be a couple forms that you will need to fill out prior to the start of auditions. Headshots and resumes are NOT required, but if you have them, please feel to bring them with you. Auditions are OPEN to everyone, however they are CLOSED for spectators. This means, if you are NOT there to audition, you are not allowed to stay and watch. Auditions are not a spectator sport. You will be nervous enough auditioning in front of your fellow auditionees without a bunch of extra eyes watching. Please prepare 16 bars of music from ANY Broadway musical of your choosing (except THE PRODUCERS) to sing at the auditions. Bring your sheet music with you and have it marked with your 16 bars. An accompanist will be provided. Wear comfortable clothes or bring clothes which you can change into. Wear or bring shoes that will allow movement for the dance audition.
A Tentative Rehearsal Schedule is available on this page for download. This is for informational purposes only and does not constitute the final schedule. This is simply a tool for you to evaluate the time commitment required for the production. The Final Rehearsal Schedule will be released once the show is cast and conflict dates are known.

SYNOPSIS:
The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime for Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends.
