Synopsis:
SHOUT! THE MOD MUSICAL takes place in London during the swinging 1960s. We follow the lives of 5 independent women as they journey through the decade. They all subscribe to the fictional magazine “Shout!” which describes their personalities by colors, hence their character names. They all sing their way through the ‘60s, experiencing a wide array of life’s moments and shaping who they become in the end.

Performance Dates:
June 17 & 18 @ 8:00 PM
June 19 @ 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM
June 24 & 25 @ 8:00 PM
June 26 @ 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM

Character Descriptions:
These 5 women must be confident and be able to belt out these wonderful 1960s songs. It’s an ensemble show with each woman featured in different songs as well as harmonizing with each other. Ages given are suggestions only.

  • Orange – the “mother” of the ensemble, domestic and maternal. She is wise and soulful, slowly asserting her new-found independence. (age range 35-45)
  • Blue – sophisticated, poised, and cool. She is a blue-blooded fashion model who is vain and not always friendly. (age range 20-30)
  • Green – good-time zany middle class girl. She is hopelessly single and a comedian at times. (age range 30-40)
  • Red – the “baby” of the group who is quirky, enthusiastic, and naïve. She is insecure about her looks. (age range 18-25)
  • Yellow – a loud uninhibited American girl. She’s a ray of sunshine with surprising vulnerability. (age range 25-35)

Music:
It’s hard to choose from all of these great ‘60s songs, but these are the ones we’re going to be teaching and auditioning.
