AUDITION INFORMATION
Auditions will consist of readings from selected sides from the script. Actors do not need to prepare anything in advance, but they are strongly encouraged to review the audition packet and become familiar with the material before auditioning.
All audition sides are included in the audition packet linked above. These scenes are designed to give actors a strong sense of the production's tone, pace, character dynamics, and comic timing.
Actors are also encouraged to watch the original 1985 film Clue before auditions. This production is a stage adaptation of the beloved film, and familiarity with the source material will be helpful. However, actors should not simply imitate the original performances. The goal is to honor the spirit and intention of the film while allowing each actor to bring the characters through their own unique filter.
Preference will be given to actors age 18 and up.
Accents will be required where appropriate, including for roles such as Wadsworth and Yvette.
This will be a very physical, fast-paced production. The show will be performed as a one-act and will require precise comic timing, strong ensemble work, and energetic movement. Actors should be prepared for physical comedy, quick pacing, and choreographed scene changes. Cast members will be involved in moving rolling doors and other scene-change elements, along with crew members, at each performer’s comfort level and ability.
Virtual auditions will be accepted, though in-person auditions are preferred. Virtual auditions will receive the same consideration as in-person auditions. Actors interested in submitting a virtual audition should contact [email protected] for a virtual audition packet and instructions.
MANDATORY DATES
Rehearsals are planned for Sunday through Thursday evenings, though the production will likely not rehearse all five nights each week. The final weekly schedule will depend on cast availability and conflicts. Actors should list all calendar conflicts for the period from July 1 to September 3, 2026.

SHOW DESCRIPTION
Clue: On Stage is a fast-paced comedy-mystery based on the classic board game and the beloved 1985 film starring Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Eileen Brennan, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, and Colleen Camp.
On a dark and stormy night, six mysterious guests are invited to a secluded mansion, where secrets, blackmail, and murder quickly take center stage. As bodies pile up and suspicions grow, the guests race to uncover the killer before they become the next victim. Full of slapstick, sharp wit, and chaotic twists, Clue: On Stage is a hilarious whodunit where everyone has a motive—and nothing is quite what it seems.
DIRECTOR’S NOTE
This production is a stage adaptation of the 1985 film Clue, and we want to honor the original work while making this version our own. Actors should be aware of the movie and its iconic performances, but we are not looking for simple impressions of Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, or any of the original cast.
The challenge is to capture the spirit, rhythm, and comic energy of Clue while filtering each character through your own instincts and imagination. These characters are heightened, eccentric, and often outlandish, but the comedy should still be rooted in reality. Few things are as funny as reality.
This production will ask a lot from its cast: sharp timing, physical commitment, ensemble focus, and a willingness to move quickly and boldly through the chaos of Boddy Manor.
ACTORS NEEDED
The production will cast the major roles listed below, along with additional featured roles. Aside from the top eight characters, actors may be asked to play multiple roles.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
WADSWORTH
Male, 30+. A traditional British butler: uptight, formal, precise, and absolutely not suspicious. Requires strong comic timing, stamina, and command of language.
MISS SCARLET
Female, 25+. A dry, sardonic D.C. madam with a sharp tongue and a deep interest in secrets.
MRS. PEACOCK
Female, 30+. A senator’s wife. Batty, neurotic, talkative, and quick to hysteria.
MRS. WHITE
Female, 30+. Pale, morbid, tragic, and mysterious. A serial widow with one of the show’s most iconic comic presences.
COLONEL MUSTARD
Male, 30+. A puffy, pompous, dense blowhard of a military man.
PROFESSOR PLUM
Male, 30+. An academic and wannabe Casanova with questionable professional boundaries.
MR. GREEN
Male, 20+. A timid but officious rule-follower. Nervous, anxious, and accident-prone.
YVETTE
Female, 20–30. A French maid with secrets and aspirations of her own. Requires a French accent.
THE COOK
A threatening presence. Also prepares food.
THE MOTORIST
A benign gentleman who rings the wrong doorbell.
SINGING TELEGRAM GIRL
A cute, perky tap dancer.
CHIEF OF POLICE
A police officer who helps save the day.
BACKUP COP
A backup cop.
MR. BODDY
A mobster-type figure. A dark cloud follows this guy wherever he goes.
THE “BROKEN DOWN CAR” COP
A cop with a broken-down car.
